3 ATTACK LONE MALE VICTIM
On Friday at approximately 5:00 am the accused, Daniel Hibbard, age 19 of Hill Top Drive, went to an apartment on Albert Street East in the company of Hugh Tait, age 19 of 4-231 Meadow Park Crescent and Stephan Humes, age 19 of Smale Ave. The three men were looking for a 22-year-old male, threatening to assault him.
An argument took place and the three accused were removed from the residence. All three males waited outside for the 22-year-old male. The victim later left the residence and was confronted in front of the Teen Centre by them. Hugh Tait allegedly struck the victim over the head with a hockey stick. The victim tried to get away and fell when running across Albert Street.
Daniel Hibbard and Stephan Humes then allegedly began kicking the victim. The victim's friends stopped the three accused. The victim sustained a cut to his head and scrapes to his knees. The ambulance transported the victim to hospital for treatment.
On Saturday at 5:36 pm, police officers arrested and charged Hibbard with Assault with a Weapon and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. He will appear in bail court. On March 23rd at 3:40 pm. Police officers arrested and charged Humes with Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Breach of Probation. He will appear in court on May 5th.
And on March 23rd at 4:20 pm Police Officers arrested and charged Tait with Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and three counts of Breach of Probation. He will appear in bail court.
MAN ASSAULTS GIRLFRIEND
Yesterday at 4:00 am, a 30-year-old female returned to her home on Wellington Street East to find her boyfriend, a 43-year-old male, sleeping on her couch. The victim went upstairs where the male met her.
The male threw the female over the bed and choked her. The female victim went downstairs where the male followed her and assaulted her by punching her in the jaw and choking her again.
Police Officers were called to the residence and the male was arrested at 5:55 am and taken to the police station. Investigation revealed the male accused had damaged the victim's front door when he forced his way into the residence uninvited. The male has been charged with Assault and Forcible Entry. He will appear in bail court today.
YOUTHS CHARGED WITH STEALING CIGARETTES
Yesterday at approximately 2:39 pm, the accused 14-year-old and 16-year-old males did commit theft under $5000.00 by stealing cigarettes from Young's Variety at 279 Northern Avenue East.
Patrol officers were called to the store and arrested and charged the youths with Theft. The 14-year-old faces the additional charge of Breaching his Probation. They will appear in court in late April.
MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
Yesterday at approximately 7:50 pm, the accused, a 33-year-old male from Queen Street East allegedly assaulted his 23-year-old girlfriend by slapping her across the face while in his apartment. Patrol officers went to at the scene and learned that the accused had a possible drug overdose.
The accused was transported to hospital and following his treatment and clearance by medical staff he was taken to the police services building where he charged with Assault. He will appear in court in early May.
SNOWMACHINE THEFTS
The police service was busy yesterday investigating snow machine related thefts. Yesterday at 12:05 pm, a 27-year-old male called the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service to advise that his snow machine had been stolen off the back of his pick-up truck parked in behind Smack Daddy's Bar and Grill located at 440 Pim Street.
The snow machine is described as a 1998 Bombardier. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime overnight on March 22nd.
Yesterday at 12:20 pm, police were advised that between the hours of 7:00 pm on March 22 and 8:00 am on March 23, thieves stole a snow machine trailer from Martins Trailers on Powley Road.
The trailer is described as an enclosed aluminum snow machine trailer with a black cover on it. It is manufactured by Rance Aluminum and valued at $4,000.00. A possible suspect vehicle in the trailer theft is a big red Chevy truck with a club cab, 4 door with the letters T&N on the side of it.
Yesterday at approximately 9:00 pm, a 24-year-old male parked his pickup truck in the parking lot at 280 Elizabeth Street, the John Rhodes Arena.
When he returned to his vehicle at 10:45 pm, his 2002 red Polaris ProX snow machine licence 913088, was missing from the back of the pickup truck. The owner notified city police service of the theft at 10:54 pm.
