On June 8, 2015 at 12:30 p.m., City Police arrested and charged a 17 year old male as a result of a compliance check at the residence the accused was supposed to live at. Investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly not resided there since before February 2015. Accordingly, the youth was located and charged with Breach of Undertaking and will be appearing in Youth Court on July 14, 2015.
On June 8, 2015 at 1:19 p.m., City Police arrested and charged a 16 year old male on a first instance warrant for assault with a weapon and YCJA breach of probation. The charges stem from an incident on April 22, 2015 wherein a victim was allegedly sprayed with bear spray. The accused was also on a YCJA probation order at the time. He will be appearing in Youth Court on July 14, 2015.
On June 8, 2015 at 1:38 p.m., a 24 year old female was arrested and charged for Breach of Recognizance. It is alleged that on May 7, 2015, City Police conducted a compliance check on the accused and determined that she was not residing at the required residence with an accompanying curfew. The recognizance was in regard to earlier domestic related charges. She will be appearing in court on July 13, 2015.On June 5, 2015, city police attended in the 600 block of Queen Street West for break and enter to a home. A PS 4 as well as cash were taken.
On June 7, 2015, city police attended on Whitney Avenue for theft of an iPod from a vehicle. The vehicle was entered overnight. There are no suspects. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind residents not to leave valuables in vehicles.
