Six To Appear In Bail Court This Morning
1) 21-year-old Curtis Erb of Pickford Michigan was arrested early this morning. A staff member at a downtown restaurant called City Police just after 2:30 am after one of the customers drove into the parking lot, entered the restaurant and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. City Police attended and arrested and charged the accused with one count of impaired driving.
2) 19-year old Tyler Giroux-Pauze of 327 Cathcart Street was arrested on the 2nd of June in the late afternoon and charged with a number of offences. It is alleged that he was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Ronald Rennison on the 30th of May. On that date at approx. 1:35 AM, City Police officers stopped a vehicle on Pim St. It is alleged that while the officers were talking to the male driver they observed a handgun in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in officers finding a small calibre handgun, a loaded gun magazine and two boxes of ammunition. Officers also located a small amount of a drug, believed to be cocaine, in the vehicle. The driver, Ronald James Rennison, age 43, of 1459 Third Line E. was arrested appeared in Bail Court on the 31st of May. Just prior to stopping the vehicle it is alleged that the accused Giroux-Pauze had exited the vehicle from the passenger side. It is further alleged that on the 2nd of May the accused, Tyler Giroux-Pauze used a stolen credit card and made three transactions with the card. When officers went to arrest the accused on the 2nd of June he resisted being arrested and fought with the officers. It is further alleged that the accused was involved in a break and enter to a home in the 300 block of Borden Avenue on the 18th of May. The accused has been charged with one count of resist arrest, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of break and enter and commit an offence, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of firearm knowing possession unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, one count of possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition, three counts of stolen credit card data, three counts of fraud and three counts of uttering forged document.
3) 66-year old Douglas Johnson of no fixed address was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of assault, one count of threatening, one count of fail to appear for fingerprints and one count of fail to attend court. It is alleged that on the 11th of April the accused assaulted a female known to the accused by punching the victim in the arm with a closed fist. On the same date it is alleged that the accused threatened another female victim. The incidents occurred in the downtown area.
4) A 15-year old youth was arrested on the 3rd of June and charged with two counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. It is alleged that the youth failed to abide by a court imposed curfew.
5) A 12-year old youth was arrested on the 2nd of June and charged with two counts of assault, one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of breach of a release order. It is alleged that on the 2nd of June the accused hit a door of the home the youth was residing in leaving dents in the door. In addition it is alleged that the youth punched an adult residence in the home in the face and bit another adult in the hand. The accused was also on a release order not to molest, harass or annoy one of the victims.
6) A 22-year old male was arrested on the 3rd of June and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused and his common-law wife got into a verbal argument that escalated to the point that the female was pushed down a set of stairs. The victim received non-life threatening injuries but did not require medical treatment.
19 Yr Old Charged With Impaired Driving
On the 2nd of June just after 5 am City Police observed a vehicle in the ditch on Great Northern Road in the area of Fifth Line East. When officers approached the driver they noted that the accused appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. 19-year old Jonathan Sayers of Box 7, Obadjiwan Reserve, Batchewana Bay was arrested and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on July 10th.
Another Impaired Driver
48-year old Christopher Bardawill of 91 Spruce Street was arrested on the 3rd of June and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. Shortly after 10 pm City Police attended at the intersection of Wilson Street and Cedar Avenue for an impaired driver. It is alleged that the accused had been operating his motorcycle on Cedar Street when it suddenly hit the ground. The accused was arrested and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on July 10th.
Joint Forces Drug Unit Makes Another Bust
On the 2nd of June in the afternoon officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which consists of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Section, the R.C.M. P. and the OPP North East Region, executed a search warrant at a residence on Wellington Street West. Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Investigation Services Section and Patrol Services assisted the Drug Unit. Officers located an undisclosed amount of money, 35 ecstasy tablets, 1 codeine tablet and 1 gram of marijuana. The officers also seized a quantity of cash. A stolen mailbox was also located inside the residence. The estimated street value of the narcotics is estimated at $900. 22-year old Damion Baillargeon aka Caleb Bleue and 21-year old Teena Gilstrap both of 1-109 Wellington Street West were each charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and two counts each of possession of a controlled drug or substance. 20-year old Alan Bertrand of 6 Linden Drive, Heyden has also been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. All three accused will appear in court on July 10th.
