The following six persons will be appearing in bail court this morning: (1) A 31 year-old male was arrested on the 16th of June just after 9 pm at his west end residence and charged with one count of mischief under $5,000.00.
The following six persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

(1) A 31 year-old male was arrested on the 16th of June just after 9 pm at his west end residence and charged with one count of mischief under $5,000.00. It is alleged that the accused attended at his ex-wife’s west end residence, got into an argument with her and when leaving he punctured a whole in the tire of her vehicle.

(2) A 27 year-old male was arrested on the 17th of June just before 10 pm at a west end residence and charged with two counts of assault, one count of threatened death or bodily harm, one count of forcible confinement and one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 16th of June around 2 am the accused attended at his ex-girlfriend’s west end apartment and assaulted her by throwing her into a wooden bench. It is further alleged that at the same apartment on the 17th of June around 3 pm the accused grabbed the victim by the throat, pinned her to the couch and told her he would kill her. The accused pulled the phone from the jack, held on to the victim and would not let her leave the apartment. The victim was able to free herself, leave and contact police. When she returned back to the apartment, she discovered that the accused had stolen the handset from her phone.

(3) A 46 year-old male was arrested on the 17th of June just after 4 pm at his west end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 17th of June around 4 pm the accused assaulted his wife at their residence by pulling her hair, punching her in the face and head area. The victim received injuries not requiring medical attention.

(4) A 39 year-old male was arrested on the 17th of June around 10:41 am at his girlfriend’s west end residence and charged with one count forcible confinement, one count of assault, one count of threaten damage to property or animals and one count of break, enter and commit. It is alleged that between the 10th and 16th of June the accused broke into his girlfriend’s wets end apartment and stole a salt shaker, a knife and some shoes. On the 16th of June the accused threatened to kill his girlfriend’s two pet poodles. It is further alleged that on the 17th of June around 10 am the accused assaulted his girlfriend by pushing her and pulling her by the arm and then stood in front of the doorway preventing her from leaving the apartment.

(5) A 44 year-old male was arrested on the 18th of June around 1:15 am at his west end residence and charged with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on the 18th of June around 12:30 am the accused threw a phone at his common-law wife’s face striking her in the eye.

(6) 23 year-old Shawn McCall of #2-140 Woodward Street was arrested on the 15th of June around 2 pm on Shannon Road and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that on the 15th of June at 1:28 pm the accused was stopped by city police for speeding on Shannon Road. When the officer checked the vehicle and plates it was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen on the 14th of June. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning. There was also a 16 year-old male passenger in the vehicle when it was checked. This youth was also charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of breach of probation. He is to appear in court on the 24th of July.

Two Charged with Aggravated Assault

(1) 26 year-old Joseph Premo of 223 Pilgrim Street was arrested at 10:15 am on the 15th of June at the city police station and charged with one count of aggravated assault. It is alleged that on the 15th of June just before 2 am in the morning the accused was at a house party on Henrietta Street when he got into an argument with a male known to him and punched him several times in the face causing extensive damage to his dental work. The victim’s jaw was broken and both lips were cut requiring stitches. The accused is to appear in court on the 23rd of July.

(2) A 17 year-old female was arrested at the city police station around 5:30 pm on the 17th of June and charged with one count of aggravated assault. It is alleged that on the 16th of June around 3 am the accused and two other females approached the victim that was waiting for a ride with some friends at he Market Mall on Second Line West. The females got into an argument and it is alleged that the accused slashed the victim in the throat area with a pocketknife. The victim attended at the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Threatening Death, Causing a Disturbance, Resist Arrest and Breach

25 year-old Richard Lewis of 264 Magnolia Drive in Hamilton Ontario was arrested on the 17th of June around 8:23 am on St. Mary’s River Drive and charged with five counts of threaten death or bodily harm, one count of cause a disturbance, one count of resist arrest and one count of breach of a release order. It is alleged that on the 17th of June around 8 am the accused was at a downtown hotel and was causing a disturbance by yelling and swearing. Police attended and had also received information that the accused was at the City Bus Terminal earlier and made threats that he had a gun and was going to shoot a bus driver. When the accused was being arrested and searched he resisted and fought with them. The accused also threatened to kill the five police officers that dealt with him. No gun was located. The accused is to appear in court on the 30th of July.

R.I.D.E Program

City Police conducted an R.I.D.E. Program Friday evening. There were 500 vehicles checked. Twelve persons were given roadside tests with six receiving 12 hour suspensions. There was one male person charged with one count of consume over the legal limit. 36 year-old Keith Huron of 66 Trelawne Avenue was charged with consume over the legal limit.
A 45 year-old male that was also checked was found to be in possession of a small amount of marihuana. Gilles Turcotte of 242 Spruce Street was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. He is to appear in court on the 23rd of July.

The following break and enters were reported over the weekend:

1) A residence on Birch Street was entered some time between 9 am and 5 pm on the 15th of June. Items reported stolen were an air conditioner, an X-BOX and five games, a play station, two DVD players, and a cell phone.
2) A residence on John Street was entered overnight on the 15th of June. It is not known what was taken.
3) A residence on Borron Avenue was entered between 7 am and 11:30 am on the 17th of June. A laptop and a television were reported stolen.
4) The Huron Superior Catholic District School Board office on Ontario Avenue was entered between the 16th and the 17th of June overnight. It is not known at this time what was stolen.
5) Prince Charles School on Northern Avenue was entered just before 3 am on the 18th of June A safe containing money was stolen.
