Second request by the Sault Ste Marie Police Service for the public’s assistance

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating any witnesses to a cycling accident that occurred on May 17th at approximately 1:50 pm. In the incident a male cyclist was injured when his bicycle flipped over on St. Mary’s River Dr. The injured cyclist was transported to the Sault Area Hospital and treated. It is believed that a motorcycle operator, a male operating a red coloured van and some pedestrians may have witnessed the incident. The Sault Ste Marie Police Service Traffic Branch is requesting the assistance of these civilians to conclude their investigation.

Three persons to appear in bail court

On Friday 11 June at approx. 8:00 pm city police arrested a 23-year-old male and charged him with two counts of breach of an undertaking. It is alleged that the accused breached his undertaking release by attended at a west end address, from which he was prohibited and also by communicating with a person that he was not allowed to communicate with.

At approx. 6:00 am yesterday morning city police arrested a 16-year-old male and charged him with one count of attempt theft of motor vehicle, one count of possession of break and enter instruments and five counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused attempted to use a screwdriver to break into a vehicle in the west end of the city. The accused fled when the owner arrived but was subsequently arrested by police. At the time of his arrested the accused was on a probation order release with conditions: to not consume alcohol, a 10:00 pm curfew and keep the peace and be good.

Early yesterday morning city police arrested a 20-year-old male and charged him with two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that Ken Armstrong, age 20, of 864 Queen St. E. Apt. # 10, breached his probation order by consuming alcohol and by not keeping the peace.

Female arrested for impaired driving

On Sunday June 13th at approx. 12:20 am city police arrested a 46-year-old female and charged her with one count of impaired driving and one count of drive over 80mgs. It is alleged that the accused, Roxanne Leziert, age 46, of 647 North St. was operating her motor vehicle, on Second Line E., while she was under the influence of alcohol. Ms Leziert will be appearing in court on July 19th at 9:00 am

Female arrested for failing to provide breath sample

On Saturday June 12th at approx. 3:50 pm city police were notified of a possible impaired driver on Trunk Rd. It is alleged that when the officers located the suspect vehicle the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A breath sample was demanded from the accused but she was refused. Charged with one count of refusing to provide a breath sample is Lena Stienburg, age 49; of 451 Bush St. Ms Stienburg will be appearing in court on July 12th at 9:00 am.

Vehicles were damaged in the following locations:

The 900 block of Queen St. E. – vehicle tires were slashed.
The 100 block of Pozzebon Cres. – vehicle was damaged.
The 100 block of Huntington Park – vehicle window was damaged.
The 500 block of MacDonald Ave. – vehicle was damaged.
A home in the 100 block of Pardee Ave was egged.
A window on a residence in the 700 block of Pine St. was damaged.

Theft
Camping equipment was stolen from the 500 block of Fifth Line E. Fishing equipment was stolen from the 100 block of Dufferin Ave. Electronic equipment was stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Churchill Ave. A ladder was stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Second Line W.
Personal papers and identification were stolen from a vehicle in the 2000 block of Millennium Crt. Several vehicles were reported entered in the 100 block of Westridge Rd.
