Break and Enter
Thanks to an alert citizen, 3 young persons were arrested yesterday afternoon for breaking into a home in the 100 block of Spruce Street. A neighbour observed the youths enter the home and called police immediately. The 3 youths were apprehended a short distance away from the break and enter, and still had the stolen property with them. The youths had stolen jewellery, a wallet and a Nintendo game cube. 2 14-year old youths and a 15-year old youth have each been charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence as well as one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Both of the 14-year olds have also been charged with one count each of breach of probation. One of the 14-year old youths will appear in bail court today and the other 2 accused will appear in court on March 1st.
Assault Charges
Yesterday afternoon City Police attended a downtown residence regarding a domestic dispute. Officer arrested a 35-year old male after they learned it was alleged that the accused assaulted his girlfriend by punching her in the face. The victim required medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries to her facial area. The accused has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and he will appear in bail court this morning.
Breach of a Release
On the 29th of January shortly before 9 pm City Police arrested 47-year old John Baxter of 103-135 Cambridge Place after police received a number of complaints about a loud party. When officers attended at the address to caution the accused about the noise, they found that the accused was in an intoxicated state. A police check revealed that the accused was on a release document not to consume alcohol. Mr. Baxter has been charged with one count of breach of a release document and will appear in bail court this morning.
3 Counts of Break and Enter
On Friday afternoon officers from Investigation Services arrested 26-year old Jasen Pappin of 6-171 Gore Street and charged him with a number of offences stemming from January 4th to January 13th, 2005. On the 13th of January the accused had been found to have some stolen property in his possession and officers were able to trace back the property to break and enters that had occurred in the City between those dates. The accused has been charged with 3 counts of break and enter and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. The break and enters occurred to homes in the 400 block of Douglas Street, the 400 block of Second Line West and the 300 block of First Avenue. The stolen property recovered included a portable power rack, a mitre saw, a gas can as well as a couple of chainsaws. The accused will appear in bail court this morning.
Break and Enter Reported
City Police received 2 reports of break and enters over the weekend. Yesterday morning a home in the 100 block of Henrietta Street was entered and some power tools were taken. A home in the 600 block of Second Line East was reported broken into yesterday afternoon. It is unknown at this time if anything was taken.
Over the weekend City Police attended to 7 motor vehicle collisions, none with injures.
