IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES

On Saturday evening city police officers were called to a single motor vehicle accident on Great Northern Road. A car being driven by Perry Thompson, age 46 of 543 North Street was south bound on Great Northern Road approaching Fifth Line. The vehicle went out of control, struck a snow bank causing the vehicle to roll over and coming to rest on its’ roof.

A passenger in the vehicle, Ian McKinley was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Mr. Thompson has been charged with Impaired Driving causing Bodily Harm and Over 80 mg. He will appear in court in February.

A 34-year-old female was also charged with impaired driving and over .08. Stephanie Bean of 260 Lakeshore Drive, Desbarats was seen driving on Goulais Avenue where officers stopped and checked her. As a result Ms. Bean was arrested and charged and will appear in court in February.

Another impaired driving charge was laid this weekend as a result of a local man operating his snow machine on Prentice Avenue. Ronald Aube, age 35 of 106 Vivian Street was charged with impaired driving and failing to supply a sample of his breath after he was checked on Prentice Ave at approximately 10:00 pm. Friday evening. He will also appear in court in February.

DOMESTIC DISTURBANCES
A 39 year old Goulais River man was arrested and charged Friday after a domestic disturbance in our city’s west end. The man is alleged to have grabbed the woman by the hair and threw a glass picture frame at her. He is to appear in bail court this week.

A 22-year-old Sault man was arrested and charged with assault stemming from a domestic dispute in the west end of the city on Saturday morning. After an argument the accused male threw a glass and a book at the woman he had been arguing with. The victim received minor injuries as a result of the assault.

ASSAULT CHARGE
A young offender male will appear in court in February after being charged with assault on Sat. evening. The accused punched and kicked another young male several times while the victim was on the ground. The accused was also charged with breach of his undertaking as a result of this incident.

BREAK & ENTERS
2 Break and enters are currently under investigation. Officers took reports of break-ins on St. Mary’s Ave. and Wilcox Avenue. Both residences were entered in the afternoon; sometime after 2 pm. Taken from the house on St. Mary’s Ave. was electronic equipment, a small amount of cash, mostly coins and several rings and necklaces.

At the Wilcox Ave break-in a satellite receiver and a cordless phone were reported missing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Branch of the city police or Crime Stoppers.

SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS
Over the past few days’ city police officers have investigated several motor vehicle accidents caused in part by the slippery road conditions. City police are reminding motorists to reduce their speed, drive more cautiously while paying close attention to road conditions
