Male Charged with Robbery 44-year old Robert Richardson of 124 Andrew Street will appear in bail court today after being arrested on the 7th of January in relation to a home invasion that took place before Christmas on McNabb Street.



Male Charged with Robbery

44-year old Robert Richardson of 124 Andrew Street will appear in bail court today after being arrested on the 7th of January in relation to a home invasion that took place before Christmas on McNabb Street. It is alleged that the accused entered the home, stole some money from the male occupant and the struck the occupant with a broken chair leg. The accused also broke a television in the residence. Mr. Richardson has been charged with one count of robbery, one count of break and enter and one count of mischief.

Male Charged with Assault

A 42-year old male will also appear in bail court this morning. On the 9th of January City Police attended at an east end residence around 10 pm in regards to a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the accused struck his common-law wife in the face and torso area number of times. The victim did not require medical treatment at the time of the incident. The accused has been charged with one count of assault.

Criminal Harrassment Charges

A 35-year old male will be appearing in bail court this morning after being arrested for 2 counts of criminal harassment and one count of harassing phone calls. It is alleged that the incidents occurred between July 2000 and again between December of 2004 and the 4th of January. The incidents involved repeated phone calls as well as following the victim and family members. The name of the accused is not being released as it could reveal the identity of the victim.

Break and Enter

On January 7th, Patrol Officers arrested 2 young persons in regards to a break and enter to a shed in the City’s west end. The Canine Unit assisted in the arrest. It is alleged that the 2 youths entered the shed in the late morning hours and left with some beer, some tools and a ghetto blaster. The stolen property was recovered and returned to the owner. A 17-year old youth has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of break and enter and commit an offence and one count of breach of probation. A 16-year old youth has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of break and enter and commit an offence. Both youths will appear in court on February 15th.

3 Males Charged

On the 9th of January 2005 shortly after 1 am Patrol Officers, assisted by the Canine Unit, arrested 3 males in relation to a stolen vehicle. A 1991 Dodge mini van was stolen from a downtown residence. When Patrol Officers stopped and checked the vehicle on Gladstone Avenue the occupants fled on foot. All 3 persons were taken in custody a short time later. 19-year old Roland Periard of 147 Biggings Avenue has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of theft over $5,000. 21-year old Raymond Gregoire of 46 St. Andrew Terrace had been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of theft under $5,000. 22-year old Henry Cadreau of 28 Hughes Street has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. All 3 accused will appear in court on February 14th.

Imparied Charges Laid

29-year-old Kelly Boyer of 81 Gran Street will appear in court of February 14th after being arrested on January 9th shortly before 3 am. Officers had received a report of a possible impaired driver in the City’s east end. Officers stopped a vehicle on Trunk Road that matched the description and found the accused to be impaired. Mr. Boyer was arrested and taken into police custody. Once at the Station the accused threatened to harm one of the arresting officers if he saw the officer around town while not working. The accused was belligerent with officers and continued to want to fight with the officers at the station. In order to get the accused into the cell area, after repeatedly being asked to go into the cell as well as resisting going into the cell, the accused was tasered by officers. Officers were able to get the accused into his cell without further incident. The accused did not receive any injuries. Officers also learned the Mr. Boyer was a disqualified driver, and was on probation at the time of the offence. Mr. Boyer has been charged with one of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, one count of consume over the legal limit, one count of operate motor vehicle while disqualified, one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. He will appear in court on February 14th.

Female Charged with Failure to Stop

City Police investigated an accident with injuries yesterday afternoon at the intersection of Shannon Road and Wellington Street East. A car being operated by Mary Krivan of 39 Joel Court was traveling eastbound on Wellington Street East. As she was entering into the intersection her vehicle was struck by a car. Janice Irving of 7 Country Club Place was traveling southbound on Shannon Road when she struck the Krivan vehicle. The Irving vehicle ended up striking a small tree and shrub on a front lawn. Mrs. Krivan was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Damage to both vehicles is described as moderate. Mrs. Irving has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of red light fail to stop.


Reminder

City Police would like to remind the public to slow down today and give yourself more time. As the snow continues to fall and the winds swirl the snow around, visibility may be reduced in areas. Car owners may also want to give themselves a little more time to clean off their windshields due to the freezing rain last evening.
