MALE STEALS DOG FROM HUMANE SOCIETY On Saturday shortly before 2:00 pm, Shane Sharp, age 39 of 41 Wallace Terrace, allegedly entered the Humane Society at 962 Second Line West and left with a dog without paying for it, thereby committing theft.
MALE STEALS DOG FROM HUMANE SOCIETY
On Saturday shortly before 2:00 pm, Shane Sharp, age 39 of 41 Wallace Terrace, allegedly entered the Humane Society at 962 Second Line West and left with a dog without paying for it, thereby committing theft.

The value of the dog was estimated at $120.00. At 2:00 pm patrol officers located Sharp walking on Second Line and arrested and charged him with Theft under $5,000.00. The dog was returned to the Humane Society. He will appear in court March 10th.


TWO YOUNGSTERS ASSAULT A THIRD
Last Friday at approximately 1:00 p.m. a 12 and 14-year-old male were on Lake Street where they assaulted a 13-year-old male by pushing him to the ground and punching him numerous items in the head and stomach. The victim was not seriously injured.

On Saturday at 7:35 pm, one of the suspects went to the police station to turn himself in. The other suspect was located at his home. Both young offenders were arrested and charged with assault. The 14 year old will appear in court in early March.

The 12-year-old male was also wanted for another assault incident, were it is alleged that on Friday at approximately 11:45 pm the 12-year-old male young offender and another 13-year-old male assaulted another 13-year-old male victim by pushing and punching him with closed fists.

They also kicked the victim, causing bruising and swelling to the head. The accused and co-accused assaulted the victim first at John Street near Bainbridge and then a second time on John Street near St. Georges Avenue after chasing and catching up to the victim.

The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries. Both the accused and co-accused were on conditions to abstain from associating and communicating directly or indirectly with each other.

The 12-year-old male was additionally charged with another count of Assault and Breach of Undertaking. He will appear in bail court today.


ARRESTED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING
Early today, at 3:10 am, Michel Grenier, age 22 of 85 Fifth Avenue drove a Chevrolet pick-up into the parking lot at 171 Willow Avenue and approximately 15 feet up a snow bank there.

The truck became stuck in the snow bank and police were called. Officers located Grenier and observed him to have a strong odour of alcohol on his breath and to be unsteady on his feet.

He was arrested at 4:00 am for impaired driving and transported to the police station for a breath test. He has been charged with Impaired Driving and Driving over .08. He will appear in court March 10th.


MAN ASSAULTS WIFE
Yesterday at approximately 3:50 am, a 40-year-old male assaulted his estranged 38-year-old spouse by pushing her several times, once to the ground and by punching her on the mouth, cutting her upper lip.

He also pushed the victim's 69-year-old mother as she tried to intervene between the two. The victims did not require medical attention. The male also damaged the victim's car by removing parts from its ignition system. This incident occurred in the parking area of a residence off Peoples Road.

At 4:35 am Officers went to his residence and arrested him for two counts of Assault and Mischief. He will appear in court on March 10th.


POLICE TAKE MAN TO HOSPITAL
Yesterday at 3:00 pm a 58-year-old man was apprehended by police officers under the Mental Health Act. The male had sometime earlier started a fire in a room at the Norwest Inn at 40 Hynes Avenue.

He refused to leave and Fire Service Personnel had to work around him. After the fire was put out the male refused to leave and would not go to another room. He kept babbling, "won't forget" over and over. Officers believed he was unable to care for himself and took him to the hospital for his own safety.


YOUNG MAN TURNS HIMSELF IN
Yesterday at 1:45 am, a 19-year-old male went to the police services building at 580 Second Line East. The accused identified himself to police and stated he was breaching his probation and wanted to be arrested.

A police record check revealed that he had a curfew of 10:00 pm. The accused was placed under arrest for Breach of his Probation Order. He will appear in bail court today.
