Patrol officers yesterday came upon a potentially very dangerous situation. Snow removal crews advised officers that children are making snow forts in the snow banks adjacent to our city streets.

This can be a very dangerous activity for the child because of the snow removal operations that are now going on throughout the city. With road graders winging back snow banks, an unsuspecting child playing in a snow fort made at the road?s edge could become seriously injured when the snow is moved.

Parents and guardians are advised to caution their children about these dangers and to ensure their children are playing in a safe environment. Children are also reminded not to tunnel under the snow because of the danger a cave in would cause.
