Three People To Appear In Bail Court This Morning 39-year old Gordon Leonard of no fixed address was arrested on the 17th of February in the late afternoon. It is alleged that the accused attempted to cash a stolen cheque at a local business.
Three People To Appear In Bail Court This Morning

39-year old Gordon Leonard of no fixed address was arrested on the 17th of February in the late afternoon. It is alleged that the accused attempted to cash a stolen cheque at a local business. The employees from the business contacted the person named on the cheque and confirmed that the cheque had been stolen and that the victim had not authorized anyone to cash the cheque.

It is alleged that the accused also signed the victim’s name on the back of the cheque. When officer attended at the business, they also arrested the accused on a number of outstanding warrants.

Mr. Leonard has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of fraud and one count of uttering a forged document in relation to the cheque. The accused was also arrested on outstanding warrants for one count of break and enter and commit an offence, one count of breach of probation and one count of fail to appear in court.

A 19-year old male was arrested late Sunday night and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that between November 24th and December 17th of 2005 the accused assaulted his girlfriend by slapping her in the head. The incident occurred at a bus stop in the City’s west end.

A 36-year old male was also arrested and charged with one count of assault on the 19th of February. It is alleged that in the late evening hours of the 19th, the accused assaulted his girlfriend by kicking her in the back and dragging her by the hair. The incident occurred in the City’s west end.

Impaired Driving

On the 19th of February just after 2 am it is alleged that 29-year old Gerald Cote of 1-186 Breton Road was operating a motor vehicle while impaired.

It is alleged that the accused exited the parking lot of a downtown drinking establishment and drove the wrong way northbound on Pim Street. A concerned citizen contacted the police and provided information regarding the driver habits observed as well as the route the driver was taking.

It is alleged that the accused went through a stop sign, a red light and weaved into oncoming traffic a number of times. The accused stopped his vehicle in the parking lot of an east end drinking establishment and was arrested by the police while he was still in his vehicle.

Mr. Cote has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on March 27th.

Theft Charge

Denis Morin of 1-127 Gore Street was arrested on the 18th of February and charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

It is alleged that the accused attended at the Dollarama Store in the Station Mall, placed merchandise under his jacket and left the store. Mall Security apprehended the accused. When arrested by Mall Security they noted that the accused also had a jacket with tags on it that had been allegedly stolen from the Tip Top Store in the Mall in addition to merchandise taken from the Hallmark Store. The accused was turned over to City Police. The accused will appear in court on March 20th.
