Male Charged with Two Counts of Assault

On the 12th of February a 30-year old male was arrested on outstanding warrants related to an incident with an ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend. It is alleged that on the 3rd of January the accused threatened and assaulted the ex-girlfriend by grabbing at her throat and also threatened the new boyfriend. In addition to this the accused assaulted a 2nd male by kicking him in the stomach. The incidents took place in the downtown area. The accused was on probation at the time of the incidents with conditions not to molest, harass or annoy the female victim. The male has been charged with 2 counts of assault, two counts of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and 2 counts of breach of probation.

Assault Charges Laid

On the 13th of February it is alleged that a 43-year old male drove to his ex-wife’s place around 10 pm. The accused had his young child in the car with him and when he arrived at the residence he and his ex-wife got into an argument. It is alleged that the accused grabbed his ex by the arms and shook her. Police were called and the accused was arrested. The male has been charged with one count of assault.

Male charged with Assault

It is alleged that on the 13th of February a 23-year old male assaulted his girlfriend, while at a downtown residence, by pushing her into a wall and slapping her in the face. The accused has been charged with one count of assault.

Indecent Exposure

32-year old Eugene Wilson of 253 John Street was arrested around midnight on the 12th after officers investigated a complaint of a male exposing himself on the 11th of February. It is alleged that on 11th of February shortly after 2 am the accused exposed his genitals to a clerk working at a west end gas station. The male left the area and police were notified. The male returned to the business on the 12th, shortly after midnight, and was recognized by the staff on duty and police were called. The accused has been charged with one count of indecent exposure and will appear in court on March 7th.

Impaired Driving Charges

34-year old Eugenio Iuliano of 1217 Airport Road will appear in court on March 14th. It is alleged that on the 13th of February shortly after 2 am the accused was driving a pickup truck while impaired. Officers observed the accused’s truck cross the centre line while traveling westbound on Second Line West. When officers stopped the vehicle they noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the accused. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with terms to keep the peace and be good. The accused has been charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of breach of probation.

Mischief

On the 13th of February City Police arrested 20-year old Ryan McLaughlin of 73 Panoramic and charged him with 2 counts of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that in November of 2004 the accused drove a vehicle into a shed at the Sault College Residence causing extensive damage. The accused will appear in court on March 14th.

Male Charged with Assault on Child

On the 12th of February officers from the Investigation Services Section arrested a 35-year old male and charged him with one count of assault. It is alleged that the male assaulted his girlfriend’s 7-year old child by striking the child on the buttocks once with an open hand resulting in a mark being left on the child. The male will appear in court on March 14th. The name of the accused is not being released as it could identify the victim.

Accident

On Friday afternoon officers from Traffic Services attended at Northern Avenue and Reid Street for an accident with injuries. It is alleged that a car driven by 73-year old Francis Klein of Bruce Mines turned right from Reid Street onto Northern Avenue to head eastbound. The Klein vehicle struck a pickup truck being operated by 32-year old Dawn Leonard of Sault Ste Marie, which was traveling eastbound on Northern Avenue. This resulted in the pickup truck striking a pole. Ms Leonard was taken to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles were demolished in the accident. Mr. Klein has been charged with one count of change lane not in safety.
