WEEKEND BREAK INS. The Sault Ste Marie Police Services is investigating three Break and Enters that took place over the weekend. The entries were to: 1. The Soup Kitchen – 172 James St. At this location thieves forced the rear door and stole a safe.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Services is investigating three Break and Enters that took place over the weekend.

The entries were to: 1. The Soup Kitchen – 172 James St. At this location thieves forced the rear door and stole a safe.

2. A residence in the 100 block of Alexandra St. – where a garage was entered and a snow blower was stolen.

3. A residence in the 100 block of Cathcart St. where a garage was also entered- it is not known what was stolen from this location.

CUSTOMS CALLS COPS

On Friday afternoon December 20th at approx. 4:00 PM U.S. Customs stopped a vehicle attempting to enter the United States. The driver was refused entry and sent back to Canada.

Upon re-entering Canada - Canada Customs officers investigated the driver and discovered that the vehicle he was driving was reported stolen in Windsor. City Police were called and charged the driver.

Charged with Possession of Stolen Property is: Marc St. Pierre, 23 , 0f 308 Wellington Ave., Apt 1, Windsor. He will appear in Bail Court today at 1:30 AM.

PAINT BALL PRANK

Also, Friday afternoon at approx. 4:15 PM a citizen reported that his pickup truck was damaged by youths using as paint ball gun. City Police attended the area and located two youths. Investigation revealed that one of youths damaged the vehicle by shooting it with a paint ball. The Youth was charged with Mischief.

INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT

City Police were called to investigate an industrial accident that took place at the dock area of Algoma Steel. In the incident a worker was assisting in the unloading of pipe from a ship while a transport truck was reversing. The driver of the transport did not see the worker and pinned him between the truck and pipes. The victim, who was taken to hospital by ambulance, remains in the I.C.Unit. The incident is still under investigation.


IMPAIRED DRIVING

City Police arrested two persons for Impaired Driving this weekend.
The first, a Jordi Madore 23 , of 137 Williams St., was observed driving on
Albert St. E. in an erratic manner. He was stopped by police and was arrested at approx. 2:30 AM on Dec 21st. He is charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. He will be appearing court on Jan 19th at 9:00 AM. on Dec. 21st.

The second incident occurred when a vehicle driven by Kari Hanninen was unable to negotiate the curve southbound on Huron St. at Bay St. Mr. Hanninen’s car struck a P.U.C. pole. Police attended and arrested the driver for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. Kari Hanninen, 21, of 8 Hugill St. will be appearing in court on Jan 26th at 9:00 AM.
