On December 14, 2014, at approximately 4:47 p.m., officers from Patrol Services attended a downtown residence with regards to a domestic dispute.

On December 14, 2014, at approximately 4:47 p.m., officers from Patrol Services attended a downtown residence with regards to a domestic dispute. The investigation revealed the accused had assaulted his ex-girlfriend by punching her in the mouth and pushing her down the stairs. Further, the accused had forcibly confined the victim and prevented her from leaving the residence. The accused had fled the scene on foot; patrol officers with the assistance of the SSMPS Canine Unit located the accused in a central location of the City a short time later and arrested him for a number of domestic related offences. A 35-year-old male has been charged with assault, forcible confinement and three breaches of his probation order in relation to the victim. The accused will appear in Bail Court this morning.

On December 14, 2014 at approximately 10:56 p.m., officers from Patrol Services attended a down town residence with regards to an assault complaint. While officers were investigating this complaint they had encountered an intoxicated male unrelated to the complaint being investigated. The male allegedly had an open bottle of liquor and became uncooperative with police. As a result, this male was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place under the Liquor Licence Act. The male allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted a police officer affecting the arrest. The accused was transported to the police station where he again assaulted a second police officer. The officers did not receive any injuries as a result of the incident. Charged with resist arrest, two counts of assault police, and two counts of breach of probation is Michael Todd Yaroshuk, 44 years old of James Street, Sault Ste. Marie. He will appear in Bail Court this morning.
