Update to Saturday evening Single Motor Vehicle Collision on Goulais Avenue and Dyment Street
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision that occurred on Saturday the 28th of August at 7:50 pm in which four male occupants had fled the scene prior to their arrival. Patrol and Traffic Services commenced an investigation, identified the driver responsible and charges were laid earlier today.
It is alleged that the driver of a 1988 Nissan 240SX that was travelling southbound on Goulais Avenue, lost control, spun out and struck the utility pole just south of Dyment Street. Four occupants were observed by witnesses fleeing from the vehicle. The passenger side of the sports car was heavily damaged with most of the damage to the front of the passenger compartment which wrapped around the pole. A male passenger that had been sitting in the front seat received minor injuries as a result of the collision.
The driver, 21 year-old William, Robert, Coutts of # 4-54 Ellis Road has been charged with one count of fail to report accident and one count of G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Male Arrested for Breach of Release and Prohibition Orders in Relation to Children
Daniel Greco, age 46, of 8 Trunk Road was arrested on the 27th of August at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre by officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Investigations Unit and charged with four counts of supplying liquor to minors, one count of breach of a prohibition order and 12 counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that between July 1st and August 17th, while in the Whitefish Island area, the accused was associating and communicating with children under the age of 16 years. At the time of the incident, the accused was on a prohibition order that prohibits him from attending public parks or swimming areas where persons under the age of 14 years are present or can be reasonably be expected to be present. He was also on probation with conditions that prohibits him from attending public parks or swimming areas where anyone under the age of 16 is present, from communicating with anyone under 16 and from being in the presence of children younger than 14 years of age. The accused also allegedly supplied liquor to the minors.

Two Males Charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm
Jesse Bailey, age 19, of 141 Wilding (front unit) and Douglas Fiddler, age 21, of 272 Trout Lake Road in Heyden, were arrested overnight by officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and charged with assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that officers received a call at approximately 2:10 am regarding some youths causing disturbance in the downtown area. When police arrived in the area they discovered that a 25 year-old male that had been walking in the Gore Street, Queen Street West area, had been assaulted by the two accused males. The victim received non-life threatening injuries that required medical attention. The accused Jesse Bailey was further charged with one count of breach of probation, as at the time of the offence he was on conditions to keep the peace and be good.

Male Arrested for Resisting Arrest and Damaging a Police Cruiser
Adrien Dupuis, age 37, of 1-145 Pim Street, was charged with one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of resist police officer. It is alleged that on the 28th of August just before 2 am officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were called to a residence on Pim Street for a person to be removed. The accused continued to cause a disturbance and failed to comply with the officer when they arrived. After being arrested the accused resisted the officers and kicked the police cruiser, causing a dent in the rear fender. He is to attend in court on the 4th of October.

Impaired and Dangerous Driving Charges
23 year-old Alicia McGregor of 204 Goulais Avenue was arrested on the 29th of August at 4:54 pm on Second Line West and Carpin Beach Road and charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of fail to provide breath sample, one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 29th of August around 4:40 pm officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a call regarding an impaired driver in the area of Ponte Des Chenes Park. Witnesses reported that the accused, driving a Pontiac Transport minivan, struck a fence post twice and drove the van on the breach area where people were present. Persons had to run away from the path of the vehicle to avoid being struck. The accused then drove the van through the parking lot and almost struck a family that was walking in the parking lot. The accused drove away from the park and was observed traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Airport Road, crossing the centre line numerous times. Police were able to stop the vehicle at Carpin Beach Road and Second Line West. At the time, officers found the accused to be under the influence of alcohol and she was subsequently arrested. The accused failed to provide a breath sample at the station. At the time of the offences, the accused was on probation with conditions that she not consume any alcohol and to keep the peace and be good. The accused is to appear in court on the 4th of October

Break and Enter Reports
• The Brick store on White Oak Drive was broken into on Sunday evening around 8 pm. The alarm was activated - no suspects could be located by police during a search of the area. Two Sony Plasma televisions were reported stolen.
• Anna McCrea Public School was entered on Sunday around 12:25 am. The alarm was activated and no persons were located inside the school on police arrival. It does not appear anything was taken.
• A residence in the 200 block of James Street was entered on Sunday evening. A television and laptop were reported stolen.
• A residence on Ferris Avenue was entered sometime from the 26th – 28th of August. A television was reported stolen.
• A front porch area of a residence in the 400 block of Pine Street was entered overnight on the 28th of August. A case of beer was reported stolen.
• A residence in the 100 block of Walnut Street was entered sometime during the day on the 27th of August. A computer was reported stolen.
• A residence in the 500 block of Wellington Street West was entered on the 28th of August at 1:15 am. The resident yelled and scarred off one of the male suspects that was attempting to crawl through a window. Two males were observed fleeing the area in a southbound direction towards Northland Road. Both males were described as being around 17-18 years of age. One of the males was on a bike and was wearing a hoodie.

Bikes Reported Stolen
A red youth Supercycle mountain bike and a pink Cheetah bike were stolen from the 1000 block of Second Line West. A black and silver 21 inch mountain bike on Beverley Street, a tan coloured adult 10 speed Land Rider from St. Mary’s River Drive and an antique bike on Mayfair Avenue
