On August 26, 2013 the Sault Ste. Marie Police, Investigation Services arrested a 72 year old male for dated sexual offences on two separate victims. It is alleged that between 1972 and 1975 while in the City of Sault Ste.

On August 26, 2013 the Sault Ste. Marie Police, Investigation Services arrested a 72 year old male for dated sexual offences on two separate victims.

It is alleged that between 1972 and 1975 while in the City of Sault Ste. Marie the accused male did touch inappropriately, for a sexual purpose a 4-7 yr old female that was known to him. 

It is also alleged that between 1984 and 1987 while in the City of Sault Ste. Marie the accused male did commit the acts of gross indecency and buggery, involving a 10 – 13 year old male victim known to him. 

As a result the accused has been charged with Indecent Assault (circa 1972 Criminal Code of Canada), Committing an act of Gross Indecency, and Buggery (circa 1984 Criminal Code of Canada).  The accused will appear in court September 30th, 2013 at 9am.

In dated offences, charges laid are based upon the laws at the time of the offence.

The name of the accused is not being released as it would potentially identify the victims.

City Police attended to the Donald Doucet Youth Centre on August 25th to lay an assault charge on a 16 year old male who was in custody at the centre. It is alleged the male assaulted another inmate on the 23rd of August. He will be appearing in Bail Court later this morning.

A 15 year old male was charged with mischief after damaging several walls at a west end group home on the 25th of August. He was released and returned to the residence and Police were called back a short time later as the same male was again causing damage and breaching conditions of his release. As a result he was charged with a breach of his conditions and will be appearing in Bail Court as well.

23 year old Andrew Petts of 26 Albert St. East was arrested by City Police officers on August 25th for theft and possession of stolen property. It is alleged the accused stole some hot dogs and milk from Walmart on Bay St. He will be appearing in Provincial Court on September 30th
