Males to appear in bail court The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating witnesses to a crime that occurred at the Cambrian Mall at approximately 5:00 pm yesterday afternoon.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating witnesses to a crime that occurred at the Cambrian Mall at approximately 5:00 pm yesterday afternoon. Yesterday afternoon city police received a complaint from a female that two males approached her, while she was in her vehicle at the Cambrian Mall, and demanded money from her. It is alleged that one of the suspects demanding the money was holding a knife at the time. The two Anishinabek male suspects involved are described as:

1. Male mid to late 20’s, 6’ tall, long black hair in pony tails. Wearing a white hoodie, cut-off jeans and a blue bandana.

2. Male, mid 30’s, 5’7” – 5’ 9” tall, med build, dark hair. Wearing a black hoodie and light coloured shorts.



Yesterday afternoon at approximately 1:45 pm city police located and arrested the male wanted in the above incident. The accused Elliott Southwind, age 28, of 16 Terry Fox Pl unit # 8 was arrested and charged with one count of attempted robbery, two counts of breach of probation and one count of obstruct police. It is alleged that on the 18th of August the accused approached a female victim and while holding a weapon he demanded money from her. At the time of this offence the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. It is further alleged that when the accused was being investigated by police he falsely identified himself.

On Sunday August 23rd at approximately 9:00 pm city police arrested a 25-year-old male and charged him with assault, resist arrest, breach of a recognizance and also on two warrants. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his common-law-wife and then resisted arrest by police. Further at the time of these offences the accused was under the influence of alcohol while being on a recognizance release order with conditions to not consume alcohol. The accused was also wanted on two warrants for failing to appear for court and on another breach of recognizance. Victim did not require medical attention.

Early this morning city police arrested a 33-year-old male and charged him with two counts of assault, one count of threatening death and one count of forcible confinement. It is alleged that just after midnight today the accused assaulted his common-law-wife and then threatened to kill her. It is further alleged that the accused then assault another female that tried to prevent the assault. Victim did not require medical attention.

Female arrested for assault with a weapon

On Saturday August 22nd city police arrested a 19-year-old Chelsey-Lynn Parr, of 14 Ascot Ave and charged her with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that the accused used a bottle to assault a former boyfriend. The victim suffered minor injuries to his head but did not require medical attention. The accused will be appearing in court on Sept 23rd at 9:30 am.

Property Crimes

Break and enters:

City police were called to investigate ten break and enters over the weekend. Break-ins were reported at the following locations:

1. The 100 block of Findlay Dr. –electronics were stolen.

2. The 100 block of Birchwood St. – two residences had sheds entered. Unknown what was taken.

3. The 1500 block of Wellington St. E. – electronics stolen.

4. The 500 block of North St.- jewelry and electronics were taken.

5. The 100 block of Bloor St. – unknown what was taken.

6. The 100 block of Champagne Dr. –Two racing bikes taken from shed.

7. Misty’s Fifties – 658 Second Line W. – am attempted break-in was reported.

8. The Maplewood Golf Course- 1413 Great Northern Rd. Liquor and a small amount of cash was stolen.

9. The 500 block of Douglas St. – power tools were stolen.

10. The 600 block of Wellington St. W. – electronics were taken.

Mischief

Vehicles were damaged in the following locations:

The 900 block of Wellington St. E

The 100 block of Country Club Pl

The 100 block of Roosevelt St.

Windows were broken at the following businesses:

Charlie’s Automotive – 350 Bruce St.

Ric’s Outlet – 275 second Line W.

The Canadian Tire garage – 200 McNabb St.

The Station Mall - door near the Scotia Bank. Two males were seen leaving this location at approximately 12:15 am on Saturday morning. Both males were wearing dark hoodies and one was wearing shorts.

A window was broken at a residences in the 100 block of Van Daele St.

A home in the 100 block of Palace Dr. was egged.

Thefts

Vehicles were entered and items stolen from the following locations:

The 100 block of Crawford St- personal items were taken

The 1100 block of Base Line – unknown items taken.

The 400 block of Douglas St. – purse taken.

The 100 block of Princess Cr. – electronics taken.

The 200 block of Hampton Rd – unknown items taken.

The 100 block of Gibbs St. - unknown items taken.

The 200 block of Goulais Ave. person items taken.

Bicycles were stolen from the 500 block of Airport Rd, the 200 block of Dacey Rd., the 100 block of Champagne Dr. and the 200 block of Second Line W.

Power tools were stolen from a garage in the 500 block of Parliament St.
