Arrest Made For Robbery On Second Line W.
20-year old Ryan Boyer of 1411 Highway 17 E, Goulais River was arrested on March 31st and charged with one count of robbery in relation to an incident on March 19th when he robbed and threatened the life of a man. Mr. Boyer was on probation at the time of the offence and has also been charged with one count of breach of probation. He will appear in bail court this morning.
Man Arrested For Sexual Assault
55-year old Gary Ferguson of 315 Gillies Street was arrested on the 2nd of April and charged with one count of sexual interference, one count of invitation to sexual touching, one count of sexual assault and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 1st of April the accused told a young female person under the age of 14 years to touch him in a sexual manner. When the victim did not comply the accused took the victim’s hand but the victim pulled away and told an adult immediately. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The Joint Forces Drug Unit Cracks Down On Another Dealer
On the 2nd of April officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which consists of members from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, The OPP Drug Enforcement Section, the RCMP and the OPP North East Region executed a drug warrant at 314 Devon Road. Officers seized over 73 grams of cocaine and 3 grams of marijuana with a street value of just over $7300. 25-year old Michael Ellison of Dunnville, Ontario was charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
Assault Charges Laid For Domestic Dispute
It is alleged that on the 1st of April a 41-year old male and his common law wife got into a verbal argument, which escalated. It is alleged that the accused shoved the victim to the ground and grabbed her by the throat. It is further alleged that the accused shoved the victim a number of times as she attempted to get to a phone. The accused has been charged with one count of assault.
38-Yr Old Man Charged With Assault
A 38-year old male was arrested and charged on the 1st of April with one count of assault, one count of breach of a release order and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused got into an argument with his girlfriend. When the victim phoned the police it is alleged that the accused assaulted the victim by grabbing her by the throat. The accused was on a release order to refrain from drinking and was also on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good.
24-Yr Old Charged For Death Threat
24-year old Justin St. Amour was arrested and charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that the accused threatened to kill the victim over the phone.
44-Yr Old Charged With Mischief
44-year old Gordon Stortini of basement apartment-566 Albert Street West was arrested on the 2nd of April and charged with one count of mischief, two counts of threatening, three counts of breach of a release order, three counts of breach of a peace bond and one count of resist arrest.
It is alleged that between March 25th and April 2nd the accused committed mischief by turning off the hot water to other residents in the building. It is further alleged that the accused threatened to shove dog excrement in the face of one of the victims as well as threatening to damage the property.
At the time of the offences the accused was a release order with a number of terms, as well as being on a peace bond with a number of conditions. It is further alleged that the accused resisted arrest by refusing to place his hands behind his back and also by struggling with the officers.
Impaired Driving
32-year old Denis Laford of 21 Regina Crescent, Wawa was arrested on the 2nd of April just before 2 am and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. Mr. Laford caught the attention of Patrol Officers when he spun his tires as he pulled away from the intersection of Gloucester Street and Cathcart Street, drove eastbound over a median on Cathcart Street and also drove the wrong way on the one-way street. When officers stopped the vehicle the accused showed signs of impairment. The accused will appear in court on May 8th.
Search Warrant Leads To Another Drug Bust
38-year old Daniel Tahti of 1-167 Albert Street East was arrested on the 31st of March and charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of resist and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. Officers from Investigation Services attended at the residence and executed a search warrant. Officers located a substantial quantity of morphine in pill and capsule form in a number of containers. Police also located a quantity of money. During the search officers located a stolen OPP exit road sign. It is further alleged that the accused attempted to obstruct the officers by attempting to eat a large quantity of the pills, but was prevented from succeeding. Mr. Tahti will appear in court on May 8th.
Police Find Marijuana & Boa Constrictor
On the 31st of March officers from Investigation Services executed a warrant at 655 Queen Street West and located a substantial quantity of marijuana in addition to a 5-foot boa constrictor. 34-year old Randolph Larrett of 655 Queen Street West has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. The Humane Society has seized the snake.
Motor Vehicle Collision
Yesterday morning a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of McNabb Street and Great Northern Road sent one person to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A car operated by Margaret Dupont of 36 Cathcart Street was traveling eastbound on McNabb Street. A pickup truck operated by Robert Lechasseur of 36 Niagara Drive was traveling northbound on Great Northern Road when it collided with the Dupont car. The impact caused the Dupont vehicle to rotate 90 degrees and it was then again struck by the pickup truck. The pickup truck sustained moderate damage and the car sustained severe damage. Mrs. Dupont was taken by ambulance to the Sault Area Hospital. Mr. Lechasseur has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act on Ontario with one count of red light fail to stop.
