Good Morning. CAB DRIVER ROBBED On Saturday at approximately 5:30 am, a Robbery was reported to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. This incident involved a taxi driver working for 7500 Taxi and two male passengers.

CAB DRIVER ROBBED
On Saturday at approximately 5:30 am, a Robbery was reported to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. This incident involved a taxi driver working for 7500 Taxi and two male passengers.

It is alleged that the two passengers got into the cab in the area of Wellington Street West and St. George?s Avenue. The passengers then directed the driver to go to the area of Cheshire Road and Korah Road. At this location they grabbed him from the back and robbed him of a small amount of cash.

The accused persons had allegedly threatened the driver that they had a weapon. Prior to leaving, the two accused pushed the vehicle into a ditch. Police were called.

The canine unit and patrol services officers began a search of the area and located a house where the two accused were later arrested. Money and property belonging to the driver was recovered at the scene.

The two accused were further charged with a Break and Enter that had taken place a Kerry?s Automotive located at 312 Alexandra Street. This break-in took place at 3:00 am on Saturday.

Arrested and charged with Robbery, Mischief, Assaulting Police Officer, Resisting arrest, Break and Enter and Possession of a Narcotic is Glen Pelchat, age 19, of 334 Dacey Road, Apt. 105. A 16-year-old male is also charged with Robbery, Break and Enter and Mischief.

Both accused will be attending in Bail Court on today at 1:30 pm.


BUSY WEEKEND
The Police Service responded to 168 calls over the weekend resulting in 35 arrests.


POLICE CALLED TO AIRPORT
Early this morning the police service was called to the airport in regards to an alarm. Upon their arrival the baggage of one traveller was searched. An X-ray examination of the bag had showed a suspicious package inside. It was later found to be a false alarm.
