POLICE PREVENT SERIOUS MISHAP
City police had a relatively quiet weekend. Yesterday at 6:30pm, police were called to a residence in the 100 block of Albert Street East. A 29-year-old male with mental problems had taken a handful of pills and then called the ambulance service.

When the paramedics arrived, the man would not let them near him. He had several knives and refused to leave the house. After about an hour, police talked him out and he was taken to hospital. There were no injuries. There was no one else in the home.
