Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is investigating a break-and-enter that resulted in property damage to a McNabb Street church earlier this week.

Officers responded to a reported break-and-enter at Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle at approximately 1 a.m. Thursday. Police spokesperson Lincoln Louttit tells SooToday that damage was caused to the church in the process of gaining entry to the building.

There was also some damage reported inside of the church.

Police say there was no one inside the building when officers arrived. It doesn't appear as though anything was stolen.

The investigation is ongoing.
