Man wanted on outstanding warrant faces drug charges

Police seized suspected drugs with an approximate street value of $2,900 at the time of his arrest

A 31-year-old Sault man has been arrested on an outstanding warrant.

In a release issued Thursday afternoon, police say that at approximately 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, officers saw the accused in the area of Cathcart Street and Carmen's Way.

"Officers knew the accused to be wanted and they executed a traffic stop," the release stated. "At this time officers identified the accused and confirmed he was wanted for failing to appear in court. He was arrested."

Police say that at the time of the arrest "officers observed a controlled substance in plain view and a subsequent search of the vehicle found the accused to be in possession of approximately 3.56 grams of a substance believed to be pink fentanyl, 6.05 grams of a substance believed to be crack cocaine, .49 grams of a substance believed to be heroin and drug paraphernalia."

Shane Erdman has been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of breach of recognizance.
