A man is facing multiple charges for allegedly throwing wood at a west-end property and threatening a person with a shovel.

At around 3:20 p.m. yesterday, Sault Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Goulais Avenue for a harassment call. The suspect was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant issued by another police service.

“An investigation revealed the accused had damaged the victims’ property by throwing wood at their residence, watched them through their windows, and approached the victim with a shovel in a threatening manner,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “The victims and the accused are known to one another.”

Thomas Louttit, 40, is charged with:

  • Assault with Weapon
  • Criminal Harassment
  • Mischief – Under $5,000

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Louttit is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
