Man swinging hammer nailed by Sault Police

Altercation on Great Northern Road leads to assault, assault with weapon charges

A man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly swinging a hammer at another person in a city parking lot.

The altercation occurred at around 7:30 p.m. on June 30 in the 900 block of Great Northern Road. 

Sault Police say a person punched the victim in the face and swung a hammer at them.

William Maloney is charged with assault and assault with a weapon.

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Sept. 24, 2024.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Maloney is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
