A 35-year-old man is accused of smashing a vehicle with a piece of metal and threatening to harm the owner.

Sault Police were called to the 400 block of Great Northern Road yesterday at around 6:30 p.m. to investigate a report of a person uttering threats in a parking lot.

“Further investigation revealed that the accused had been trying to enter vehicles in the parking lot when confronted by the victim,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “The accused proceeded to hit the victim’s vehicle with a piece of metal and threaten their life. The accused was arrested.”

Xavier Stoneypoint is charged with uttering threats and mischief under $5,000. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Sept. 11, 2023.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Stoneypoint is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
