Reports of a vehicle travelling erratically on Trunk Road has resulted in two charges of drunk driving, according to a police news release.

Around 4:30 p.m.at Nov. 26, Sault Ste.Marie police officers located a vehicle matching the description parked at a residence on Woodward Avenue. Officers spoke with a man outside the house and developed grounds to believe the individual had been driving the vehicle and their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, the release stated.

The person was arrested and later provided samples into an approved device, registering two fail results, the release said.

Jeffrey Niskanen faces charges of operation while impaired – alcohol and/or drug, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80+), the release said. The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to be in court Jan.16, 2023.
