A man whose car ended up on somebody’s front lawn Sunday afternoon was behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle, police say.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on June 4, when a 911 dispatcher received a call about a collision in the 300 block of Black Road. When they arrived on scene, officers say they found a vehicle on the front lawn of a residence and the driver nearby.

The driver had a suspended licence and had taken the vehicle “without the owner’s knowledge and permission,” according to a press release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Christopher Blair, 43, is charged with:

  • Motor Vehicle Theft
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Driving While Under Suspension – under the Highway Traffic Act

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on July 31, 2023.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Blair is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
