Sault Police have charged a 45-year-old with mischief after reports of windows and doors being smashed downtown on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to the 200 block and 300 block of Queen Street East around 1 p.m. after numerous people phoned 911.

Police say they later found a person who matched the description of the suspect in the 300 block of Wellington Street East.

"An investigation revealed the accused had used large sticks to smash glass doors and windows at one multi-unit residence building and two businesses," says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Sean Seguin is charged with three counts of mischief under $5,000.

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Nov. 4, 2024.

The allegations have not been tested in court and Seguin is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
