Man charged with trafficking after cocaine seized on Gore Street (3 photos)

39-year-old was found asleep in a vehicle this morning and arrested, police say

Police charged Aaron Gridzak this morning following the seizure of approximately 43 grams of suspected cocaine, states a release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Police say the 39-year-old was arrested after officers found him asleep in a vehicle on Gore Street.

Full text of the news release follows:

On Feb. 4, 2022, officers with the Drug Enforcement Unit charged 39-year-old Aaron Gridzak with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Around 9 a.m. officers attended the 100 block of Gore Street and observed a man asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Officers approached the vehicle and were able to wake him up. While speaking with the accused officers observed what appeared to be cocaine on the passenger seat.

At this time officers arrested the accused. A subsequent search found him to be in possession of approximately 43 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, $3,370 in Canadian currency, a digital scale and packaging material. The estimated street value of the narcotics seized is $4,395.

He is charged with:
    •    possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
    •    possession of property obtained by crime

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on April 4, 2022.
