On Saturday, officers with the Sault Police Service charged a 27-year-old man with robbery and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Police say the individual visited the business twice last week.
At around 5:15 p.m. on Friday, a 911 caller reported a robbery at a business in the 100 block of Churchill Boulevard.
The accused had left prior to when officers arrived, police said in a release.
“An investigation revealed the accused had threatened a security officer with a knife when they were confronted about leaving the business without paying for several items.”
On Saturday, another 911 caller reported that a man had returned to the same business.
Officers were again dispatched to the business where they arrested Kyle Onraet, who is charged with:
- Robbery
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 27, 2025.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Onraet is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
