A 28-year-old faces break and enter charges after an incident that occurred in January, Sault Ste. Marie police said in a news release issued today.
Police say they responded to a call around 12:13 a.m. on Jan. 9 after two people allegedly broke into the mailboxes in the lobby of a multi-unit residence in the 600 block of Albert St. W., causing approximately $2,300 in damage. Around 10:47 p.m. the same day, the pair returned and broke into the rear entrance of the building, causing $1,990 in damage and stealing $5,100 worth of items.
Police identified the accused and recognized him on March 18, where he was arrested.

On March 18, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 28-year-old Joseph Boyer with break and enter.
Around 12:13 a.m. on Jan. 9, 2022, two people attended the entrance of a multi-unit residence in the 600 block of Albert Street West and forcibly opened the mailbox units in the lobby, causing approximately $2,300 in damage. Around 10:47 p.m. on Jan. 9, 2022, two people attended the same multi-unit residence and forcibly entered the rear of the building. While inside the building the two people caused approximately $1,990 in damage and stole materials valued at approximately $5,100.
The subsequent investigation identified the accused as being involved in the Jan. 9, 2022, incidents. Around 9:30 a.m. on March 18, 2022, officers observed the accused in the 600 block of Queen Street West, and he was arrested.
He is charged with,

- Possession of Break in Tools
- Disguise with Intent
- Theft Over $5,000
- Breach of Probation x3
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing. The investigation is ongoing.
