Officers with the Sault Police Service charged a 51-year-old man from Echo Bay with fraud and theft on Thursday.

Last year on Nov. 14, detectives began investigating two reports of fraud and theft involving the accused, a news release said.

“An investigation revealed the accused had fraudulently sold items to two victims in September of 2024.

“The accused cashed the victims’ cheques—valued at $4,900 and $2,599—but never delivered the items they had purchased,” the release said.

Yesterday, detectives located and arrested Robert Sharpe, who is charged with:

  • Fraud – Under $5,000 x 2
  • Theft – Under $5,000 x 2

Sharpe was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 12.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
