Police have charged a 41-year-old after a pair of reports of an unwanted person.

Around 11:30 p.m. Friday night, a 911 call reported an unwanted person at a multi-unit residence building in the 400 block of Pim Street.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded but the accused had left the area before their arrival. Police say an investigation revealed that the accused had physically assaulted and verbally threatened the victim when they were asked to leave.

The victim wasn't physically injured.

A warrant was obtained for the arrest of the accused.

Around the 7 a.m. the next morning, another 911 call reported an unwanted person in the 300 block of McNabb Street.

Officers responded and found the accused and made an arrest.

As a result, Donald Larente has been charged with:

  • assault
  • uttering threats
  • failure to comply with probation order (x2)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Larente is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
