Police attended the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre on April 20 to charge Darrin Barber-Addison with assault following an incident that took place on April 7.
The 20-year-old was in custody on an unrelated matter at the time of his arrest, states a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.
He is accused of fleeing the area after punching the victim several times while the two were in the elevator at an Albert Street West apartment building.
