Man accused of threatening victim with imitation firearm

On April 13, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 26-year-old Sidney Benwell for uttering threats.

At 1:48 p.m. on April 13, 2020, the accused attended a business in the 700-block of Queen Street East. While there, [it is alleged that] the accused had a verbal exchange with another person in the business. While leaving the business it’s alleged the accused threatened the victim’s life and showed the victim a firearm he had in his possession.

Officers located the accused a short time later and arrested him. At the time of arrest, he was found to be in possession of an imitation firearm.

He is charged with uttering threats, assault with a weapon, possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, using an imitation firearm while committing an offence and breach of probation.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 22, 2020

On April 11, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 25-year-old Brandon Smith for dangerous operation.

On April 11, 2020 at 6:57 a.m., officers witnessed the accused driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed. Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on multiple occasions but the accused fled at a high rate of speed. The accused was located at 10:55 a.m. and arrested.

He is charged with dangerous operation, driving without a license and two counts of fail to stop for police. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 22, 2020.
