On May 10, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 26-year-old Michael Rivers with theft of a motor vehicle.

At 5:55 p.m. on May 10, 2020, the victim was dropping off items for a family member in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue. At this time, it is alleged the accused got into the vehicle and fled the area.

Officers observed the vehicle at 6:06 p.m. on Wellington Street West and attempted a traffic stop on Douglas Avenue. The accused aggressively pulled past a cruiser with the emergency lights engaged onto the boulevard and into oncoming traffic. Due to concerns for public safety officers did not engage in a pursuit.

Officers observed the SUV shortly afterwards and waited for the accused to pull into a driveway in the 200 block of First Avenue. At this time the accused was arrested.

He is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous operation, flight from police and breach of recognizance.

He was held for bail court.
