A local ride share driver is facing charges following an incident in early July.

On July 6 at around 3:30 a.m., someone phoned 911 to report a sexual assault by a ride share driver.

Sault Police say allege the accused sexually assaulted two victims who requested rides from the company while taking them to their destination.

The accused and the victims are not known to each other, police say.

On July 30, the suspect turned himself in at Sault Police headquarters.

Iliyas Aslam, 30, is charged with two counts of sexual assault.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in September.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Aslam is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
