Large police presence at East Street building and downtown

SooToday was on the scene this evening as roughly six police officers entered the building

Roughly six police officers entered the building at 70 East Street with guns drawn. 

SooToday was on the scene at 8:30 p.m. as the officers entered the building.

One officer also had a member of the canine unit. 

Sault Ste. Marie Police have also shut down a section of Wellington Street East.

The street is closed to traffic between Pilgrim Street and East Street, in the area of  St. Andrew's United Church.

It is not yet known if these occurrences are related.
