UPDATE: 30-year-old faces charges in Sussex Road standoff

Sault Police were dispatched to the neigbourhood Thursday after someone phoned 911 to report being threatened by a person carrying a knife

A 30-year-old is facing charges after a two-hour standoff with police on Sussex Road yesterday.

As SooToday reported, officers were dispatched to a multi-unit residence at around 12:20 p.m. on Thursday after someone phoned 911 to report being threatened by a person with a knife.

“Upon arrival, officers conducted multiple door knocks and the accused would not come outside without a warrant,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “Officers obtained and executed a warrant, and the accused was arrested without incident.”

Police say the suspect got into an argument with someone known to them and pulled out the knife. “The victim did not sustain any physical injuries,” police say.

Dallas Solomon is charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Solomon is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
