Police have charged a 30-year-old following an incident at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre on Thursday.
Around 3:30 p.m., officers with the Patrol Services Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were called to the site after a report that an inmate had assaulted a corrections officer.
Police say that the accused also punched an employee of the ATRC, which led to minor physical injuries.
As a result, Harley Beboning has been charged with:
- assault peace officer
The accused continues to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
