Impaired charges laid after call of unresponsive man behind the wheel

Police say the 25-year-old was passed out behind the wheel in the driver's seat with the engine running

On June 10, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 25-year old Devon Phillips for impaired driving.

At 5:30 p.m. police received a call of an unresponsive man behind the wheel of a vehicle with the engine running. Police attended and found the accused in the driver’s seat.

Officers were able to get his attention and developed grounds to believe his ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by drugs.

He was given a Standardized Field Sobriety Test and he performed poorly. He was arrested and later given a Drug Recognition Evaluation in which he performed poorly.

He is charged with impaired driving alcohol and drugs. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 24, 2020.
