Sault Police are warning people to carefully check their Halloween candy after a child discovered a razor blade inside a box of Smarties over the weekend.

The youth trick-or-treated in the Adrian Drive area, as well as in the P-Patch, police say.

The razor blade was found on Saturday. No one was injured.

“Parents and guardians, please check all items collected by children during Halloween before they eat it,” says a news release issued this morning by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Anyone who finds tainted Halloween candy is urged to report it to police by calling 705-949-6300.

Meanwhile, police in Timmins are investigating two cases of a needle found in children's Halloween candy.
