A Sault Ste. Marie woman said her ex-boyfriend shot at her and robbed her at gunpoint on Friday night on Albert Street.
Brooke Bouchard, 24, said her ex-boyfriend arrived at her friend’s house uninvited at around 6 p.m. with someone who drove him there.
The ex-boyfriend was “demanding money from me. Once I denied him, he pointed a firearm at me and shot it just to the left of my arm,” Bouchard told SooToday.
“I told him to leave several times and he said he wouldn’t.
“When I tried to leave, he tackled me to the floor several times with the friend helping, and stole my bank card and a few other belongings on my person,” she said.
Bouchard said she escaped through the back door. The ex-boyfriend had already fled when police arrived.
The incident lasted around 15 minutes.
Bouchard said she’s OK.
“Bit sore but otherwise alright.”
As of Friday at 11 p.m., police have not responded to a request for more information.
Here is the original story:
Earlier today, police blocked off a section of Albert Street from John to Andrew starting at around 6:30 p.m.
People who live in the area were asked to stay indoors.
One person described a scene with several armed officers and approximately 10 police cars.
"They all had their long automatic guns drawn. One officer had a riot shield," said someone who lives nearby.
"They surrounded this house, breached the side door. I believe they escorted two people away at different times.
"When it was finally clear, I went out and asked a police officer what happened. He said they got a call to 'ensure someone’s safety,'" the neighbour said.
The scene has mostly been cleared, the neighbour said, although a forensics vehicle has remained on Albert.
This is a developing story. More information will be added as it becomes available.
