One person was arrested for assault after police say he headbutted someone while wearing a helmet back in August.

Officers responded to an apartment building in the 200 block of Wellington Street West on Aug. 22 to investigate a report of an assault, but the suspect had already left the scene, says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

"Investigation revealed the accused, who is known to the victim, had headbutted them while wearing a helmet," the release says. "The victim sustained minor physical injuries. A warrant was obtained for the accused’s arrest."

The suspect, 40-year-old Tommy Kidder, was located and arrested on Sept. 27.

Kidder is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 25 to answer to charges of:

    •    Assault with a weapon
    •    Failure to comply with probation order x2

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Kidder is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
