Domestic Volience
A 43-year old male was arrested last evening in regards to a domestic violence related call. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his estranged wife at their residence in the City’s north end by pushing her twice to the ground. The victim did not require any medical treatment at the time of the incident. The accused has been charged with one count of assault and will appear in bail court this morning.
Trafficking Charges Laid
Last evening just before 9 pm City Police were called to a local centrally located motel to have 2 patrons removed from a room. When officers attended in the room they found a male and a female who were both on release conditions not to communicate with each other. When the persons were search the female was found to have approximately 79.7 grams of cocaine on her as well as 46 grams of cannabis resin in 5-gram vials. The male was found to have a substantial amount of money on him and was also carrying a set of brass knuckles, which are a prohibited weapon. The estimated street value of the narcotics is $8,870. 24-year old Sarah Mergaert of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and two counts of breach of a release order. 41-year old Ronald Rennison of 57 Copernicus Street has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, two counts of breach of a release order and one count of possession for a purpose dangerous to public. Both accused persons will be appearing in bail court this morning.
Impaired driving charge
Last night just before 3:30 am City Police stopped a vehicle on St. Georges Avenue near North Street. It is alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Matthew Stephenson, age 25 of 438 North Street has been charged with one count of fail to provide breath or blood sample. The accused will appear in court on October 24th.
Yesterday morning around 10 am a homeowner in the 200 block of Selby Road returned home and scared off a young male teen that had broken into their home. The thief made off with some play station games, some cigarettes and a duffel bag belonging to the homeowner. Officers searched with are with negative results, however they are continuing to investigate this matter. The only description is that the male was in his mid to late teens.
Break and Enters
Just after 5 pm last evening officers attended at Hoshinsool Martial Arts located at 288 Korah Road. Thieves had entered the business but nothing appears to have been taken.
Just before 3 am this morning officers attended in Storey Furniture for a break and enter to the store. It is unknown at this time if anything was taken.

Bear Sighting
Last evening around 5 pm City Police attended in the field area in the 600 block of Brule Road for a bear sighting. The bear had left before officers arrived.
