City Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying possible witnesses to a single motor vehicle collision which occurred just after 11:30 am on Friday the 22nd of September. The collision occurred in the area of White Pines High School near the driveway on the west side of the school. City Police would like to speak with anyone who may have information about this accident. Please contact officers from Traffic Services at 949-6300 ext 382.

Domestic Disputs

1) At approximately 10:30 last evening City Police arrested a 26-year-old male in relation to incidents dating back to August. It’s believed that after the accused relationship with a girlfriend ended he pursued the victim by trying to make contact with her by means of telephone and showing up where the victim was at. On the 16th of August at approximately 6:30 in the morning the accused attended at the victim’s downtown residence and sounded the horn and was yelling for her. When the victim eventually came outside of the residence the accused threatened to set the house on fire and shoot everyone who came out. The accused then grabbed the victim and threw her into the porch window causing injuries to her wrist and hand, which required medical attention. On the 21st of September at approximately 3pm the accused made several phone calls to an acquaintance of the victims threatening to kill her also and made threats towards his ex-girlfriend to physically harm her and kill her. Shortly after the accused, while operating a motor vehicle drove onto the sidewalk in a dangerous manner in the downtown area and nearly struck two females sitting on the curb and then brandished a knife. An acquaintance of the victim came out of her residence and observed the accused drive towards her and displayed the knife in a threatening gesture then left the scene. The accused was arrested shortly after at his place of employment in the west end of the city. The accused has been charged with 3 counts of Threaten Death or Bodily Harm, 1 count of Assault Causing Bodily Harm, 1 count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and 1 count of Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose. The accused is scheduled to appear in bail court today.

2) In a second domestic situation a 47-year-old male assaulted his wife and infant child after the victim asked the accused to leave their west end residence. It’s believed that the accused punched the victim and hit the baby’s head. The accused then kicked then victims dog and left the residence. Police were called and the accused was arrested shortly after near the residence. The accused has been charged with 2 counts of Assault, and 1 count of cruelty to animals. The accused is to appear in bail court today.

Police Forces Execute Search Warrant

Yesterday afternoon The Joint Forces Dug Unit, which consists of members from the Sault Ste Marie Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Drug Enforcement Section, the R.C.M.P. and the OPP North East Region executed a search warrant at 524 Northern Avenue. Officers located 2.5grams of cannabis resin and less than 1 gram of cocaine. Various drug paraphernalia was also located at that residence. The accused David Hache was on a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behavior and also to not posses non-prescribed drugs. Arrested was 21-year-old David Maynard Brian Hache of 524 Northern Avenue. The accused has been charged with 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Drug and 2 counts of Breach of Probation Order. The accused is to appear in court on the 30th of October.
