Male Charged with Assault
Yesterday evening at approx. 7:05 Pm City Police arrested Shaun Mearow and charged him with assault. It is alleged that on Sept. 12th Mr. Mearow assaulted another male by punching him in the face several times. The victim did not require medical treatment for his injuries. As a result Mr. Mearow, of 2102 Mission Rd, Goulais River, will be appearing in court on Monday Oct. 17th at 9;00 AM on an Assault charge.
Female Charged with Impaired Driving and Failure to Remain at the Accident
Last night at approx. 8:35 PM City Police were called to Grace St. in regards to a Fail to Remain accident. Upon arrival officers were given the description and licence plate of the suspect vehicle. A short time later officers located the driver and arrested her for Fail to Remain at the scene of an accident. Subsequent investigation led officers to lay the additional charges of Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80mgs. Charged is 53-year-old Suelo Marshall, of 524 Goulais Ave. She will be appearing in court on Mon. Oct.17th at 9:00 AM.
Threating To Cause Bodily Harm
Yesterday morning City Police charged a 36-year-old male with Threatening. It is alleged that the accused, who was in custody at the time of this offence, called his girlfriend and threatened to cause her bodily harm when he got out of jail. The accused will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM on the Threatening charge.
Break and Enters
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is investigating two break and enters in the past 24 hours. A break-in was reported in the 100 block of Goulais Ave. where the rear door of the residence was forced. It is not known what was taken at this time.
A break and enter was also reported to a residence in the 100 block of Fournier Rd. In this entry the culprit(s) stole a vehicle from the garage. Taken was a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta- red in colour. The vehicle licence plate is AEWW 958.Anyone seeing this vehicle or knowing anything about either break and enter is asked to call the city police or Crimestoppers.
There was one report of an attempted break and enter called in early this morning. At approx 12:40 AM police were dispatched to 290 Queen St. E. – Savoy’s Jewelers for an alarm. On arrival officers noticed that the front window was broken. Culprits used rocks to break the front store window but fled when alarm was activated. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the City Police Detective office.
