UPDATE to Robbery

Just after 3:30 am this morning 4 males entered the Mac’s Convenience Store located in the 2000 block of Queen Street East. The lone clerk was stocking merchandise when the four males started to take a quantity of cigarettes from the display area. The clerk approached the suspects and was punched in the face but did not require medical attention. The suspects fled the store on foot with a quantity of cigarettes. Officers from Patrol Services and the Canine Unit responded to the call.

Just after 5 am this morning, with the assistance of Police Dog Tazer, eight suspects were arrested at a residence in the City’s east end. Officers from Investigation Services became involved earlier this morning and have been working jointly with Patrol Services on this robbery. Some of the cigarettes have been recovered and the investigation is still ongoing.

It is alleged that four of the males entered the store and committed the robbery while the other two males and two females waited outside and acted as lookouts. While in the store two of the four males wore balaclavas over their faces.

A 16-year old and a 17-year old male have each been charged with one count of robbery, one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of disguise with intent-face masked.

Two 15-year old males, two16-year old males and two 16-year females have each been charged with one count of robbery and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

All of the youths will appear in court on the 7th of November.


Robbery at Mac's

Just after 3:30 am this morning three males attended at the Mac’s Convenience Store located in the 2000 block of Queen Street East. The lone clerk was stocking merchandise when the three persons started to take a quantity of cigarettes from the display area. The clerk approached the suspects and was punched in the face. The victim did not require medical treatment. The accused persons fled the store on foot with a quantity of cigarettes. Officers from Patrol Services and the Canine Unit attended in the area. Just after 6 am this morning a number of individuals were taken into custody. No further details are available at this time as this investigation is ongoing.

Update on Domestic

News Release from October 4th

At approx. 9:30 PM last night City Police were called to a centrally located address regarding a domestic. Upon police arrival the victim informed the officers that her ex-common-law boyfriend assaulted her. It is alleged that the accused grabbed the victim by the arm and dragged her into the residence. Once inside the accused banged the victim’s head off the wall and door before throwing her down onto the floor and sitting on her. The victim did eventually get to a phone and call police. The accused, a 24-year-old male is charged with Assault and Breach of an Undertaking. The accused was on a previous release document with conditions to stay away from the victim. The accused will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM. Victim did not require medical attention for her injuries.

UPDATE: Last evening officers from Patrol Services arrested the accused from the above incident and further charged the accused with one count of assault. Information was received yesterday that on the 3rd of October during the domestic dispute the accused slammed a door on a young child who was in the residence. The victim received non-life threatening injuries. The accused will appear in court on November 30th.

Forged Perscription

26-year old Tara McKinley of 1-33 Lewis Road was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of uttering a forged document. It is alleged that on the 29th of September the accused attended at a local pharmacy with a prescription for Oxycontin. The accused handed the script over to the pharmacy who was able to verify that it had been forged. As a result of the investigation the accused was charged. She will appear in court on October 30th.

Break & Enter

Yesterday morning just after 9:30 am City Police attended at Boston Boats located on Trunk Road in regards to a break and enter. Sometime between 11 pm on the 4th of October and 7:30 am on the 5th of October the business was broken into and a laptop was taken.

Attempted Break & Enter

Yesterday morning just after 11:30 am a young male was in the process of breaking into a home in the 200 block of Huron Street. A neighbour scared the suspect off and called police. The male is described as being between 17-20 years of age, tall and skinny with short shaggy dark hair and he was wearing a navy jacket with red trim. Nothing was taken in the incident.
