HIGH SCHOOL PUNCHER
On the 14th of October 2003 at 3:00 pm a student at a local high school assaulted another student by punching the victim. The victim received minor injures in the assault. On the 22nd of October 2003 the accused, a 16-year-old young person was arrested and charged by police officers with assault. The youth was released unconditionally after agreeing to enter into a Youth Diversion Program under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
FINGERPRINTING INFRACTION
On the 23rd of October 2003 at 11:03 am Patricia St. Louis, age 22 of 12 Bainbridge Street attended at the City Police Station for fingerprinting. The accused was several days late for her fingerprinting and as a result she was arrested and charged with Failing to Appear for Fingerprinting and Breach of Probation. She will appear in court on December 1st.
In a similar incident on the 23rd of October 2003 at 12:35 pm, the accused, Alexis Causley, age 22 of 623 Shafer Ave. attended at the City Police Station for fingerprinting. She was advised she had missed her fingerprint date and was arrested and charged with Failing to Appear for Printing. Her court date is December 1st.
MISSES COURT
On the 23rd of October 2003 at 12:50 pm Alexander McKenna, age 25 of 66 Oregon Rd. turned himself into Police at the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Building. Police officers executed a warrant for the accused for Failing to Attend in Court. His court date is December1st.
16-YEAR OLDS HAVE COURT DATE
On or between the 1st of September and the 22nd of October 2003 in Sault Ste. Marie the co-accused, two 16-year-old young persons committed the offence of criminal harassment by following the victim on numerous occasions from place to place. The victim an adult male was known to the accused. On October 23rd at 12:40 pm and 1:00 pm the co-accused were arrested on the charge. They will appear in court in early December.
14-YEAR OLD STEALS
On the 29th of September 2003 the accused, a 14-year-old young person, did commit the offence of theft by stealing a Sony Play Station and Discman from a city residence. These items were later pawned off at a pawnshop. On October 24th at 12:45 am the accused was subsequently arrested by police officers for this offence. The accused was released into the Alternatives Measures Diversion Program under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
HOME BREAK IN
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated one break in yesterday. A homeowner on Highcrest Street at 5:07 pm last evening advised police that sometime last week thieves broke into their garage and stole a King brand 8 1/4” mitre saw, shoes and a hockey bag with equipment in it. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers.
CRIME PREVENTION WEEK
The public is reminded that the first week of November is Crime Prevention Week in Ontario. This year’s theme is building stronger relationships with the community. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and other law enforcement agencies in the district will be involved in recognizing this event by holding the annual Crime Prevention Seminar this coming Wednesday, October 29th, 2003 at the Holiday Inn. The seminar, which still has seating available and is open to the public, has registration from 8:00 am to 9:00 am and then will run from 9:00 am until approximately 3:00 pm. The guest speaker for this event is Special Agent J. Bedford of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Special Agent Bedford will be discussing the timely issue of terrorism, including reviewing recent case studies of terrorist attacks and prevention strategies, topics that he has discussed internationally at similar events.
