Drugs Found in Man Hunt

Just after 7 pm last night City Police received a call reporting suspicious activity in the 2000 block of Second Line West. The complainant advised that there was a vehicle driving back and forth in the area and that three youths advised that someone had threatened them with a knife. During the course of the investigation further information was received that gunshots may have been fired. Officers attended in the area and when they went to stop a vehicle on Second Line West near Leighs Bay Road three of the four occupants fled the area on foot. Officers immediately contained the area. Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police also attended in the area and provided assistance. Officers from the Emergency Service Unit were involved as well as the Joint Forces Drug Unit. The three males who fled on foot were taken into custody with the assistance of police dog Tazer. During the course of the evening and the investigation a marijuana grow area was also discovered. When officers searched the vehicle that the four persons had been in they located more marijuana in the vehicle. Four persons will appear in bail court this morning in regards to this investigation:

1) 43-year old Victoria Latvanien of 138 Elmwood Avenue has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of production of a controlled drug or substance.

2) 37-year old David Doslea of 138 Elmwood Avenue has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of production of a controlled drug or substance.

3) 41-year old Brian Leclair of 394 Pim Street has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of production of a controlled drug or substance.

4) A 16-year old male has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of production of a controlled drug or substance, five counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and one count of breach of a release document.
It is estimated that over 3 kilograms of marijuana were seized with an estimated street value of $15,000 to $24,000.

Assault, Threatening & Breach

35-year old Claudia Lambert of 4-181 John Street was arrested just before 1 am this morning and charged with one count of assault, one count of threatening, one count of breach of probation and one count of breach of a release order. It is alleged that the accused attended at the address of a female known to the accused and assaulted the victim by pulling her hair and scratching her. The accused also threw the victim down some stairs. The victim did not require any medical treatment. The accused also threatened to kill the victim. The accused was on probation at the time to keep the peace and be good. The accused also failed to notify her change of address condition on a release order. She will appear in bail court this morning.

Wanted for Assault, Mischief and Breach

44-year old Paul Archambault of 196 James Street turned himself in last evening to City Police. The accused was wanted on warrants from an incident earlier this summer. The accused was wanted for one count of assault, one count of mischief, one count of breach of a release order and one count of fail to appear for court/prints. He will appear in bail court this morning.

Youths Charged with Breach

A 17-year old youth and a 16-year old youth were both arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count each of breaching a release document. Just after 4 pm a call was received regarding two males possibly breaking into an east end home. Upon investigation by officers learned that the 17-year old male resided at the address. The 16-year old male was located hiding in a bedroom in the home. The two youths were both on release conditions not to communicate with one another. Both will appear in bail court this morning.

Fraud Charges

Yesterday morning officers from the Fraud Unit arrested 35-year old Eddie Hernando of 192 Louise Avenue and charged him with one count of theft by person required to account, one count of theft over $5,000 and one count of fraud over. The offences took place between June 15th of 2004 and September 15 of 2005 while Hernando was employed at LTV News.com. It is alleged that during that time Hernando defrauded the company of over $31,000. The accused will appear in court on November 20th.

Break & Enter

Last evening a break and enter was reported regarding a home under construction on Maki Road. Sometime overnight between the 11th and the 12th of October thieves stole a generator, saws and other building equipment from the address.
